The National Geographic travel editors named Valparaiso Chile as one the top trips in 2013. The photo rich magazine was enamored by the Valparaiso’s winding streets, entrancing street art, and funiculars scaling the port cities natural amphitheatre of 45 hills.
One of only 20 destinations that the magazine chooses every year as the top destination Valparaiso. The editors took to Valparaiso’s steep promenades on foot, walking Chile’s cultural capital in the footsteps of two of its biggest admirers Pablo Neruda and Isabel Allende. Cerro Allegre, Cerro Concepcion and the port was just a portion of the magazines walking tour, with wonderful bay views and ocean breezes at every turn
The editors didnt just walk and snap photos, they chowed down on the Valparaiso creation Chorillana, and the wonderful seafood and shellfish that the Valparaiso’s Mercado Cardonal has to offer. Check out some of their pictures here.
