Full Day Tour

Visit Santiago's Famous Markets

We have taken the best parts of our Morning and Afternoon tours, here is your ultimate city bike tour to discover the whole of Santiago in just one-fun packed day. On this adventure ride you will find out about the culture behind the boho streets of Bellavista, followed by the taste and colours of Santiago’s renowned food markets (all 3 of them). We will show you our favourite place to grab a classic Chilean meal.

Once your food is fully digested we will hit the wonders of Santiago that puts the city in the history and travel books. We discuss important recent history about the Pinochet regime outside La Moneda. All this and still allowing time to see the main sites downtown and enjoying the parklife. Our tours are designed to be a cultural cruise without overbearing you with information, dates and irrelevant facts.

Why take THIS tour, Why THIS tour with La Bicicleta Verde?

Our Green Team has fine-tuned this tour since we started in 2008, always striving to make it better tomorrow than it was today. That is the commitment we make to you. This is one of our newest tours and we truly believe in it’s purpose and future success. This is a different way to see Santiago than looking from outside on a bus. We get deep into the nitty gritty and won’t miss a spot.

Who should NOT take this tour?

We made a list of 7 people who are not welcome. #1 says: “People who want everything organized perfectly from day one to the final departure.” This tour visit markets and other public places, which means it can be chaotic. We bike through a capital city of 6 million people and traffic can slow us down. Expect the unexpected.

Barrio Bellavista

Ever since 2009, Lonely Planet recommends this “two-wheel town tour with a cultural bend,“ and our local guru guide (the person with the knowledge, cycle skill sets and handsome looks) will get you informed, fitted and kitted upon arrival.

9:30am: We head to bohemian and graffiti-filled Barrio Bellavista, weaving between cobbled streets and colourful murals to learn about how the neighbourhood’s past influences your beautiful surroundings

La Chascona

10am: Next stop La Chascona, house of the famous Chilean poet and cultural icon, Pablo Neruda.

Mercado Central

10:30am: Weave your way to La Vega Central, Santiago’s largest fruit, vegetable and everything in-between market. The over the Mapocho river to Mercado Central seafood market, a necessary stop when in a country with over 6,000 km of coastline. All the beautiful food will get your appetite up, but don’t worry, we won’t let you go hungry…

Lunch Time

12:45pm: We take a break for lunch and let you guys to your thing! We recommend out favourite eating spot around the office so you can eat some well earned Chilean cuisine before beginning the tour again.

2:30pm: It’s time to ride! We pedal through Forestal and Bustamante parks on a mellow cruise to get oriented and learn some crucial Chilean slang and watch the locals make out in the grass.

Gabriela Mistral Cultural Centre

3:30pm: We leave the parks and hit the streets, making our way to the historical GAM cultural center, which sits in the hip Lastarria/Santa Lucia Neighbourhood. Try out your bell and turn the heads of the skinny jean and moustache wearing Chileans sipping coffee as you ride towards downtown.

Presidential Palace

4:30pm: Next stop is La Moneda, the Presidential Palace, where we’ll get into Chile’s political history and how it shapes society today.

Back to The Bike Base

5:15pm: Taking advantage of some of Santiago’s growing network of bike lanes, we’ll zigzag back up to our bike base camp and make sure you are equipped to enjoy the rest of your time in our beloved country.
