Every trip to Chile should be remembered for its wines, both white and red. Make your adventure memorable by biking through some of Chile’s most famous vineyards. Santa Rita and its two sister vineyards, Carmen and the organic Nativa. This outing combines a lot of fine wine and beautiful biking across one of our finest vineyards with a hearty country-style luncheon.
What to expect? This full day of cycling ventures into the famous Maipo Wine Valley. This area is located just 45 minutes south of Santiago center, the region where the wealthiest 19th century Chilean families used the best Bordeaux grapes to make magic happen! You will understand exactly why Chile is famous for its wine after seeing the grapes, meeting the locals and biking across this land. PS: You’ll be fed and quenched in the traditional Chilean way by a local family-owned restaurant.
Why Bike? Taking the Valley by bike allows you to see more and take in the fresh air like a Chilean cowboy. Pedal through Santiago’s finest vineyard today so it is not on your bucket list tomorrow. It is more eco-friendly and you definitely look cooler on your bike on Instagram than you do on a bus with 44 other tourists who regret their decision. Plus, you will see the grapes up close in the vineyards while admiring the Andes that lay only a short distance away.
Why bike with us? We have perfected Chile’s BEST bike & wine route so we can share our 2 passions with you! We have only a select few travel gurus for this tour, all passionate not only about Chile’s wine but about people too. They are bilingual and love getting to know new groups, giving you an individual experience. Forget all your worries if only for one day. BTW: We have fine-tuned this tour since 2012 to make sure it is better tomorrow than it was today. That is our commitment and you can expect it.

Pick Up and Drive Through the Valley
Your tour begins in the morning at the front door of your Santiago accommodations. We pick you up with our local team and all the equipment. About 40 minutes driving to the valley, time to get to know each other.
Note: Time depends on group size, traffic, wine hiccups. (If you are not a tad bit flexible this tour might not be for you).
When we arrive in pueblo of Alto Jahuel we’ll unload the bikes. Enjoy a traditional Chilean breakfast/snack before riding through the country roads en route to the vineyards.
Viña Santa Rita
11am There is nothing wrong with starting your morning cycling through a local village. See the local people and understand how they live. Most of them work in Chile’s agricultural industries. We are truly taking you to the simple life so breathe it all in my friends!
11:30am Soon after the national landmark hacienda of Doña Paula Jaraquemada welcomes us to Viña Santa Rita. Together we pedal through the greenery and explore the vineyards. We will even get up close and personal with the grapes (you can even have a sniff).
12:00pm You will then discover the spot that the once extinct Bordeaux grape was rediscovered (thank heavens). The Carmenere was reintroduced to the world by Viña Carmen!
12:30 pm With the majestic Andes as the back-drop, you will ride through the vineyards of Santa Rita and Carmen until you reach the Carmen Winery. Visit its state-of-the-art production facility which produces some of the finest Chilean wines. Following the winery, let’s head into the organic vineyard and gardens of Viña Nativa. Experience the relationship between the vines and flowers. Stroll through the vineyard with its resident swans, ducks, chickens, llamas and deer.
Tasting Time & Traditional Chilean Lunch
1:15pm A ride back to Santa Rita’s beautiful cellars to visit their state of the art production facilities. We’ll see how they produce all the delicious wine you are about to enjoy, and visit their history-rich cellars and learn how the production of wine and this vineyard in particular had a role in Chile’s independence.
2pm After this it's TASTING TIME! A chance to try four delicious wines from Nativa, Carmen and Santa Rita. All this awaits the group in the vineyard’s cozy historic cellars. Even better, you get to keep the glass!
2:45pm You maybe feeling a little peckish by now? Not to worry, we head back to the family-run restaurant for a traditional Chilean lunch.
4pm Once you are fully satisfied we jump back in the van and you’ll be dropped off in front of your accommodations.
Not convinced? The cycle route is suitable for all fitness levels so you shouldn't get so weary. We take plenty of breaks to enjoy the views, take a drink, and get great photo opportunities. Check out our crazy reviews on TripAdvisor if you think it is overpriced, alternatively consider the less expensive Cousiño Macul bike and wine tour that includes 1 vineyard.
